I took some photos recently of my sister-in-law’s one year old niece. It was quite cold out that morning, but with her mom and siblings running, singing and practically doing flips behind me, she was an angel the entire time. Here are some of my favorites:

Farewell to Summer

Adjusting to the back to school routine has been a little painful, in my opinion. Sure, my kids are in school all day which leaves me with loads of time “to myself” to sit around and watch Tivo’d episodes of Project Runway and eat cookie dough ice cream all day (is that bad?).

Well, regardless of my current situation, I SO miss the days of summer. Don’t get me wrong – fall is my FAVORITE season. I love homemade applesauce. I love Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. I love hoodie sweatshirts and comfy jeans. But I already desperately miss summer – deciding each morning what adventure I’ll take with my kids. The beach? A pool? The library? Meijer? (OK, that last one never excited them but was definitely necessary).

I miss flip flops and tank tops and slip-n-slides. . .

football games. . .

Ok, in reality, that was more like gearing up for football, but really tackling each other and playing with dog instead.

Playing on the beach with no cares in the world . . .

And riding off into the sunset.

Back to School, Back to Blogging

Wow, it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted anything on this blog. This summer has been unlike any other for us, in a variety of ways. Contrary to my thoughts of having tons of time (to blog, edit photos, etc.) while the kids played outside, we kept very busy together. Pools, the beach, camps, campfires, fun with friends. . . so much to do in the summer – and time flew by.

And now, as summer has officially come to a close, on the second day of school, the reality has settled in that both my big kids are in school all day, everyday. Yikes. How did I turn into a thirty-something mom with kids in elementary school? Yikes. Who am I and where are my babies?

Due to the aforementioned lack of time to edit photos, here are just a few flowers I took back in the spring. As I catch up on some editing, there will be fun photos of people to come.

Have I mentioned that I have the BEST neighbors? I absolutely love our neighborhood and we feel so blessed to have not only great friends for our kids but also great friends for ourselves. :)

Janet’s daughter, A, had a recital last week and I took some photos after her dress rehearsal. Some of my favs are with her goofing around with her mom at the end.

Baseball Fun

J-Money has been playing baseball again this spring and it’s been so much fun. Although we’ve had a couple hard losses (1 – 13), we’ve also had some exciting wins. These photos are from a game that we were down by 8 runs and in the last inning, came back to win it 13-12. J-money had the tying run. I love the second photo because you can see the sheer joy on his face.

I took some photos of one of K-Fab’s best buds, C, last week. In order to make her laugh, I had K-Fab behind me shouting obscenities. Okay, not real obscenities but obscenities for a 5 and 6 year old – you know – poop, pee, vomit, etc. It was pretty funny and by the end we were all laughing.

(I don’t typically endorse this kind of language with my children . . . but hey . . . it got C smiling!)
